NELSON, Horatio (Admiral, 1758-1805). Two documents signed ('Nelson & Bronte'), the first an order to John Chambers White, Captain of the Renown, 'Victory off Toulon', 4 August 1803 , telling him to proceed to the Bay of Roses for 'wood and water', to order the purser to purchase fresh beef and 'as many live Bullocks for the fleet as you can conveniently store, at the lowest and market price', countersigned by John Scott, 2 pages, folio , integral blank leaf; the second, 'To Mr. David Moore Surgeon's second mate of the Triumph', 'Victory at Sea', 21 December 1803 , instructing him to join the newly taken former French schooner ( Renard ) now refitted at Malta and take up the post of surgeon, addressed and countersigned by John Scott, one page, folio , laid down. John Scott Nelson's Official Secretary from May 1803, was killed beside him at Trafalgar. (2)
