Die Zahl der in den Bibliographien verzeichneten Tafeln variiert; am umfangreichsten ist das von Stafleu/Cowan beschriebene Exemplar mit 494 Tafeln und zahlreichen Einschalttafeln sowie einem 1833 erschienenen Supplement mit 120 Tafeln. Unser Exemplar enthält 432 (mit Bleistift) durchgezählte Tafeln und sechs Einschalttafeln bei den Nummern 13, 129, 174, 209, 317 und 341, jeweils mit lateinischen Beischriften. – Theodor Friedrich Ludwig Nees von Esenbeck (1787-1837) war Apotheker und Professor für Pharmazie und Botanik in Bonn und Leiden und ist der Bearbeiter der ursprünglichen Erläuterungstexte von Weyhe, Wolter und Funke. – Zusätzlich eingebunden sind 24 Supplementtafeln sowie die zugehörigen Textblätter des 1833 erschienenen Supplements mit 120 Tafeln. – Innengelenke und Block tls. gebrochen, Vorsätze tls. läd., mehrf. gestempelt, Text und Tafeln leicht gebräunt und meist fleckig, einzelne Tafeln vom Block gelöst, wenige mit Randläsuren. – In prächtigem, differenziertem Kolorit. The large herbal book of the 19th century was probably published in 20 issues. The number of plates listed in bibliographies varies; the copy described by Stafleu/Cowan is the most extensive one with 494 plates and numerous intercalated plates and a supplement with 120 plates published in 1833. Our copy comprises 432 plates enumerated with pencil and six intercalated plates at the numbers 13, 129, 174, 209, 317 and 341, in each case with Latin inscriptions. – Additionally bound are 24 supplement plates as well as the corresponding text leaves of the supplement with 120 plates published in 1833. – Inner joints and block partly broken, endpapers partly damaged, multiple stamps, text and plates slightly browned and mostly soiled, some plates unstuck from block, a few with marginal damages. – In a magnificent, differing colouring. – Contemporary damaged half calf.
