Needlework Sampler, executed by Smilinda Wilder, Leominster, Massachusetts, 1811, the sampler stitched with silk threads on a gauze ground, centered with an oval reserve with alphabets and a needlework verse over a scene with an urn of flowers in a landscape with trees and shrubs over the inscription: "Wrought by Smilinda Wilder in her 13th year 1811," all enclosed by a flowering vine, (minor toning, fading, and light stains), 17 x 15 in., in original molded wood frame. Descent in the Wilder family, Leominster, Massachusetts. Note: Smilinda Wilder was the third of twelve children born to Peter Andrew Wilder and Sarah Joslyn of Leominster, Massachusetts. She was born May 2, 1799. Samplers by her two sisters Nancy and Sally, lots 569 and 570 are also offered here.
