NAPOLEON I, Emperor of France . Printed document signed ("Napoleon"), countersigned by the Minister of Justice and the Secretary of State, Trianon Palace, 4 March 1813. One page; folio; text, entirely in French, printed on parchment, accomplished in manuscript; folded for mailing; a bit of soiling and staining to bottom edge of document not affecting text . An official document dating from the height of Napoleons career: a clemency edict in which Napoleon -- "par la grâce di Dieu et les Constitutions de l'Empire, Empereur des Francais, Roi d'Italie, Protecteur de la Confédération du Rhin, Médiateur de la Confédération Suisse, &c &c &c..." -- grants freedom to 13 political prisoners, the names of which are written into the text in a secretarial hand. Executed during the Spring 1813 Napoleonic Campaigns.
