Morgan, James (fl. circa 1920) Small Archive of Received Correspondence, American Presidents, Authors, and Others. Including letters from the following people: Theodore Roosevelt, typed letter signed, 15 February 1912, praising the recently deceased Edward Augustus Moseley (1846-1911), and his services "for the cause of industrial betterment of our people," with several corrections in ink, the sheet toned; Julia Ward Howe, autograph letter signed, 2 November 1894, regarding "A Rhyme for Memorial Day" and its publication in the Boston Globe, asking in part for a proof copy, on account of her bad handwriting, accompanied by the proof copy, with her manuscript corrections; Grover Cleveland, typed letter signed, to Edward Moseley, regarding the Phelps-Rosberry treaty, with handwritten corrections; Warren Harding, typed transcript of an excerpt of his Armistice Day address, signed and dated 11 November 1921 (with an accompanying letter from Harding's secretary); William Jennings Bryan typed note signed 30 December 1908, to the Boston Globe, acknowledging the receipt of a telegram, and regretting his inability to respond; Charlie Chaplin, typed letter signed 8 May 1928 to Morgan thanking him for "your splendid book," received through mutual friend Mayme Ober Peak, and mentioning the wonderful inscription, "modesty forbids! I can only say that you have the faculty of conquering with the pen," on letterhead; [together with] three other signed pieces and other ephemera.
