A collection of Oriental games, late 19th/early 20th century, comprising: The Game of "Hana-Awase" Japanese Cards, Tokyo, Japan: printed by the Seishi-Bunsha, 1892, numerous colour woodblock illustrations (some lightly offset), original wrappers, decorative colour front cover, 8vo; a wooden Chinese games box, subdivided into compartments, containing two smaller wooden boxes with sliding lids, one holding 'Go' stones, the other holding decorated and lettered bone counters, plus a set of six shallow baskets, and a pair of stacking wooden trays (one lidded), one holding two sets of Hanafuda cards, the other holding a set of cards for an unknown game, with additional folded cards and a text booklet; a lacquered box with decorative lid, containing approximately four sets of Hanafuda cards, with handwritten instructions and a typed sheet 'Rule for 1915'; a card box containing two Hanafuda sets, one unopened and with 'Nintendo Card Co.' stamp on base; another pair of probaby Hanafuda card sets, both unopened, with Japanese 10 sen stamp sealing each end of both packs, contained in wooden box; and a set of Chinese fortune sticks with instruction booklet, contained in cylindrical gilt-decorated case (6)
