The consignor relates that it is believed this woman is a descendant of Signer of the Declaration of Independence, Richard Stockton, although no further provenance confirms this connection; a quarter plate daguerreotype of a grandmother and grandchild, the young toddler affectionately leans on his grandmother and holds her hand; a very clean sixteenth plate daguerreotype of a striking sixteen-year-old identified as M.L. Crossett; a ninth plate ambrotype of a young girl; a sixth plate ambrotype of a young gentleman stamped on the mat by the photographer S. Broadbent; and a ninth plate ambrotype of Robert Crossett in his smart top hat; 15 miscellaneous documents, most pertaining to Henry Mills Alden; an ALS from Mary E. Williams Freeman to Henry Alden written on November 11, 1906; a silver gelatin period copy of a signed photograph by Alden; a copy of Her Letter His Answer and Her Last Letter by Bret Harte, 1905. Condition: Most are in good condition, not all images have their original seals, most are cased but the cases are damaged. Many of the ambrotypes have some flaking while one of the daguerreotypes has small solarization on the outer margins.
