Milligan (Spike) Postcard from Alcudia to Alan Clare, signed ('Spike and Shelagh'), with message reading "I write to tell you that the rain that falls mainly on the plain is falling mainly on me...Visited grave of Robert Graves had tea with widow - it would have been better the other way round. Visiting historical sites, the streets are full of them. the temp is 90°F, my temperature is 98.9°F, so I'm having better weather than Maiorca. I do nothing but write bloody postcards, this is no. 699, if you had been no. 700 you would have won a candlelight supper with Ian Paisley. Trying to be cheerful for Mrs Thatcher and the Midland Bank"; together with a Christmas card signed "Spike, Paddy and Family" and a letter expressing Spike's grief about Alan's death, saying "He will be so sadly missed, not only as one of this world characters, with a marvellous sense of humour. ; but especially as one of the great musicians of his time. All we can say is that 'the music will live on'- he has left a musical heritage with lasting melodies", one page, 4to, 30 November 1993.
