Parts 1-24 only (of 38), 2° (c.330 x 240mm). 144 lithographic plates, including 4 taller plates folded at top, and 7 additional plates from other parts, ALL COLOURED BY A CONTEMPORARY HAND AND HEIGHTENED WITH TEMPERA, original lithographic wrappers to each part (from part 17, lithographic and letterpress) with title and contents in Russian (front) and French (rear). (Some wrappers separated, part 17 with repaired marginal tears extending to image in one plate, 4 taller plates a little frayed at lower edge, light spotting in 2 plates, small stain in a few wrappers.) Preserved loosely in 20 t h-century red morocco-backed covers, gilt spine. Provenance : E. Guidée (bookplate dated 1926) -- Alexandre Sementchenkoff (bookplate; sale Christie's, 22 October 1987, lot 547). RARE, apparently the only copy to appear at auction in over 30 years and not in Colas or Lipperheide. Zaionchkovskii 1706.
