Military General Service 1793-1814, 6 clasps, Albuhera, Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Orthes, Toulouse (Samuel Worral, 7th Foot) nearly very fine £1400-1800 Footnote Samuel Worral (sometimes Worrell) was born in West Melyon, Yorkshire, and attested for the 7th Foot at Doncaster on 10 September 1809, aged 17 years. On 25 August 1824, Worral transferred to the Royal Newfoundland Veteran Companies and served in Newfoundland for a further eight years (some dates on his discharge papers have been crossed through and altered and are hard to discern). He was discharged ‘worn out; unfit and constitution much shaken’ on 30 June 1832. His conduct as a soldier was described as being ‘good’ and that he had ‘Served in the Peninsula four years. Was present at the taking of Badajos, battles of Albuhera, Salamanca, Pyrenees, Nive, Nivelle, Orthes and Toulouse; New Orleans in America, in France in 1815, and Newfoundland since 1824’. Admitted to Pension on 11 June 1834, Worral died on 23 June 1857. Sold with copied discharge papers and muster details.
