An extremely rare set of proofs reserved for the printer Georges Sagourin
Printed circa 1956-1961 at Atelier Mourlot, Paris
Before the edition of sixty with wide margins published in 1961 by Tériade Éditeur, Paris (there was also a book edition of 250)
Each signed ‘Marc Chagall’ in pencil or ballpoint pen by the artist (lower right margin)
Two plates inscribed ‘epreuve de collaborateur 2/2’ (lower left margin), some with various dedications to Georges Sagourin in pencil (lower right margin), the last plate dedicated and with a remarque in pencil below the signature (lower right margin)
Occasionally dated ‘1956’, ‘1958’ or ‘1959’ in pencil (lower right margin)
