(15x21½"), Scarce real estate map of Carmel, California, with interesting provenance and association. The map itself was issued for use by Thoburns Licensed Real Estate Brokers, and has pencil notes and marks on it, some in red or blue, indicating properties and houses for sale and the prices. Accompanying the map is a three-page typed letter signed by P.A. McCreery, a manager at Thorburns, conveying the map, along with descriptions and prices of eleven properties. The letter, dated 11-22-35, is addressed to Hamilton M. Jeffers, younger brother of the poet Robinson Jeffers and a noted astronomer at the Lick Observatory (he has an asteroid named after him). In the letter McCreery writes "We have taken the liberty of sending an exact duplicate of this map and letter to Mr. and Mrs. Robinson Jeffers so that they might look it over and be in a position to offer suggestions from their valuable experience in Carmel." OCLC/WorldCat lists only one copy of this map, and that one was for the use of the Carmel Land Company, with the date given as 1928. Lot Amendments Condition: Fine or nearly so. Item number: 286013
