Trieste, [c. 1864-1878]. thick volume in the author's autographic writing, with erasures, glosses and additions by Rabbi Moshe Yitzchak ben R' Shmuel Tedsky-Ashkenazi (1821-1898), rabbi and teacher in Trieste, Italy. Also authored books on the rest of the Bible, and other works. the year 1864 appears on the title pages, but the author continued to proofread and correct the manuscript for many years thereafter (Leaf 2 includes an addition from 1878). At the beginning of the manuscript, the author presents correspondence with Shadal as to the book and writes that he does not intend to print the book in his lifetime. He requests that the work be printed after his death “and should be a lasting memorial for him because he does not have a son to remember his name…”. In spite of this, the book was printed in his lifetime in Livorno, in 1881 (seven additional parts on Nevi’im and Ketuvim were printed between 1870-1892, in Gorizia, Cracow, Przemyśl and Padova). Enclosed with the manuscript are leaves in the handwriting of the author with various novellae and commentaries on the Scriptures. [218] leaves (most are written on both sides). 22 cm. Good condition. Stains and light wear. Detached leaves and binding. Damaged binding.
