Louis Majorelle Art Nouveau Carved and Marquetry Inlaid Walnut Side Cabinet Circa 1900 The serpentine-shaped top with a molded edge and recessed superstructure with mistletoe carved curved supports, blacksplash and short overhanging shelf, the lower section with a frieze drawer above an open compartment and cupboard door, decorated with lotus blossoms and lily pads, flanked by incurved sides, raised on low bracket feet, signed L. Majorelle. Height 53 inches, width 41 inches, depth 16 1/2 inches. Provenance: Macklowe Gallery, New York, January 14, 1981 C The Collection of Gerald G. Stiebel and Penelope Hunter-Stiebel and Stiebel, Ltd.
appears to be in generally good condition; some light superficial scuff marks and one water ring mark on the main top surface; the locking key is present and it works on the lower cabinet door; some light nicks and surface abrasions; there is a small horizontal wedge-shaped strip of wood that has broken off near the lower hinge on the cupboard door, which is present and can be reattached; door is signed: L. Majorelle
