Lindbergh kidnapping.- Lindbergh (Charles Augustus Lindbergh, American aviator, military officer, author, inventor, and activist, 1902-74).- Edward VIII (King of Great Britain, Ireland, and Emperor of India, 1894-1972) Presentment of Harold Dobson Peacock to the Vicarage of Saint Barnabas Derby, printed form with manuscript insertions, on vellum, folds, 460 x 555mm., 3rd February 1936. ⁂ Rev. Harold Dobson Peacock (b. 1880), served with Canadian forces during World War I and was wounded twice, once in the shoulder, and in the right arm. Later he was appointed Dean of the Episcopal Church in Mexico City, and became acquainted with the Morrow Family, Charles Lindbergh's future father-in-law, Dwight Morrow Sr., was ambassador to Mexico. In 1927, Peacock became Rector of Christ Church in Norfolk, Virginia. Here, he was involved in the Lindbergh case when he was taken in by the hoaxer, John Hughes Curtis, and helped to provide erroneous information, thus muddying efforts to secure the arrest of the real kidnapper, afterwards identified as Richard Hauptmann.
