Lajos Kolozsvary (1871-1937) At the antique dealer. Oil on canvass, 55.4 x 68 cm, around 1900, signed Kolozsvary down on the right. A purchaser, an older man with a tuft, is sitting at a table with objets d’arts in a room. He is holding a magnifying glass in his left hand and in the other hand a gilded goblet which he is examining. His younger companion in a hat is standing behind him. At the left from the buyer an older dealer is sitting, lively debating about the object which attracts eyes as well as thoughts of the three men. The interior scene with the light coming from the left upper corner is very like some painting by Vermeer. This ably painted historicizing realistic genre was inspired by Dutch art of the 17th century. It is adjusted in a historicizing blondel frame with carvings. On the backside of the frame there are remains of a paper label with incomplete author’s name “..olozsvary”. Ausrufpreis: 30 000
