Lacquer game box, China, circa early 19th century. 6 x 12.25 x 5.35 in. (157 x 315 x 135 mm). Retangular Chinese export box on wooden dragon head legs with scalloped sides, rounded corners, hinged top lid, keyhole and key plate (lacks key). Overall chinoiserie decoration in various shades of gold decorate the top and sides of the box. The interior holds one central removable lacquer box flanked by two additional lids that each cover four lacquer trays. The trays are decorated with the kind of diamonds, the queen and king of diamonds together, the queen, valet, nine and ace of diamonds, and one tray with the word "Game" written on it.
