THE IMPEACHMENT COMMITTEE . Mammoth-plate albumen print, signed in ink by the sitters, printed artist and sitters' credits, title and typographic identification “Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1868, by Brady & Co., in the Clerk's Office of the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia” (on the mount). 14 5/8 x 17½ in. Brady's large format image depicts the Managers of the House of Representatives during Johnson's troubled Presidency. Left to right they are as follows: Benjamin F. Butler (Mass.); James F. Wilson (Iowa); Thaddeus Stevens (Penn.); George S. Boutwell (Mass.); Thomas Williams (Penn.); John A Logan (Ill.); and J.N.O. Bingham (Ohio). Curiously, a faint framed image of a portrait of Lincoln is hung, high on the left-hand wall.
