JENKINS, James (printer). The Naval Achievements of Great Britain From the Year 1793 to 1817, London: L. Harrison, [plates dated 1816-17]. 4° (349 x 280mm). Engraved portrait frontispiece of Rear Admiral Sir Thomas Troubridge supplied from another work and dated 1814, engraved title with hand-coloured vignette, 55 hand-coloured aquatint plates by various engravers after T. Whitcombe and others, 2 engraved plans on one sheet. (Lacking the portraits, frontispiece lightly spotted, isolated spots to title, text and a few plates, ?later tissue guards.) Finely-bound in late 19th-century dark blue crushed morocco by Howell of Liverpool, covers with gilt-stamped anchor and telescope motifs at centre and corners repeated in compartments of spine, one compartment lettered in gilt, gilt edges (a few scuff marks to lower cover, extremities very lightly rubbed). FIRST EDITION, later issue. Abbey Life 337 (calling for portraits of Nelson and the Earl of St. Vincent); Brunet III, 1487 (calling for only 51 plates); Tooley 282.
