Three col. woodcuts (forming a triptych). Signed in the block (enclosed in a Toshidama cartouche) & nanushi censor’s seal. Published by Tsutaya Kichizo (ca. 1853). Ca. 34,5 x 72,5 cm. Behind passepartout & framed (behind glass). ¶ Very rare triptych probably made in co-operation with the Japanese artist Ando Hiroshige (1797-1858) depicting a scene from the Japanese literary work “The Tale of Genji” by Murasaki Shikibu (ca. 973-after 1014). – A few imperfections (three vertical folds, sl. creased in outer margins, occ. sl. foxed/ browned), but nevertheless an attractive triptych in an acceptable condition (not examined out of frame).
