Collation: a b 6 c-k 8 l-n 6 o-t 8 v 1 0 x 6 y z 8 A-D 6 E-T 8 V 8 (a1r blank, a1v tabula, b6r prologue, chapter headings, c2r text, V 8v blank). 326 leaves. 46 lines, double column. Type: 5:87 bG, 6:178G. 2- to 6-line initials in red. (Neat marginal repairs in first, last and 2 other leaves, neat tear into text repaired in p1, r2.7 on guards, apparently due to missigning the sheet.) Modern binding of half blindstamped leather over old wooden boards, single fore-edge clasp. Provenance : a few contemporary marginal annotations -- Hastadt/Hastack?, Capucin convent, gift inscription from a Count Frederic von [--]berg (early inscription washed from first blank recto). Printed at the first press at Reutlingen, and one of the few dated editions printed by Greyff. A medieval best-seller, the Legenda aurea was one of the most popular compilations of saints' lives.
