Beschreibung:

J. A. Whaley & Co. Patinated-Metal and Leaded Glass Tulip Lamp Early 20th century The conical shade decorated with nine tulip blossoms in mottled red, pink and yellow colored glass with green leaves against a green ground, raised on a paneled columnar standard continuing to a conforming domed base, shade unsigned, base plate signed. Height 23 1/2 inches, height of shade 6 1/2 inches, diameter of shade 15 7/8 inches. See Paul Crist, Mosaic Shades, Volume II, p. 101, for an illustration of this model. C The Leo Lerman and Gray Foy Collection
Shade: appears to be in generally good condition; there are perhaps just a few individual glass segments with cracks, which do not effect the integrity of the shade and they do not appear to be of any great consequence; shade is nice and tight (no loose segments and no loose solder or lead lines; it is possible there has been an old restoration or replacement to one or more of the individual glass segments, however, this does not appear to be so Base: appears to be in generally good condition; the sockets appear to be old although they may be later in date and not original; the three on/off light switches (black plastic or bakelite) are consistent and are marked WEBER; there are casting "straw" marks or perhaps annealing stress or "crease" lines, in the making, on the top side of the foot; these casting flaws have the appearance of clustered scratch marks; appears to retain its original base plate; base is not signed; the lamp has not been tested to see if all of the light sockets and switches are in working condition; the lamp is currently wired with a silk cord, which appears to be a later replacement Cap: appears to be in good condition; appears to be the original cap
