Oil on canvas, 18 1/2 x 15 in. (47.0 x 38.0 cm), framed. Condition: Punctures, paint losses, canvas deformation, craquelure, surface grime. Provenance: Thought to be from the estate of Constance Biddle of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, granddaughter of Philadelphia financier Thomas A. Biddle. N.B. Schedoni is known to have painted three versions of this subject. One dating from 1611 is in the collection of the Museo di Capodimonte in Naples, Italy. The other two are in the collections of the Palazza Borromeo on Isola Bella and the Galleria Nazionale in Parma.
