Provenance Dukes of Sachsen-Gotha, Schloss Friedenstein, Gotha; sold at C. G. Boerner, Leipzig, 2 & 3 May 1932, lot 41 (' ... Sehr schön, aber beschnitten. Eine dünne Stelle .') (Mk 200; to Matthiessen). With Galerie Matthiessen, Berlin, acquired at the above sale. With P. & D. Colnaghi, London, with their stock number C. 9638 MK in pencil verso ; presumably acquired from the above.
