Title page hand-drawn in pencil, 34 pencil sketches (from 1 1/4 x 1 1/8 in.; 31 x 29 mm, to 8 1/4 x 6 1/8 in.; 222 x 155 mm) pasted onto leaves, with 24 pp. of manuscript travel narrative in ink; some toning and smudging, a few stray spots. Bound in hand stitched birch bark, and contained in an Imperial Cadet Corps file folder with drawstring; minor shipping and peeling to bark, minor toning and soiling to folder. A manuscript shooting diary, chronicling a journey through Kashmir "It was noon on the 24th of April 1890, and blazing hot at that, when Ward, Peter & I debauched into Guzerat railway station with all our troubles before us, but full of courage, especially Peter [the dog]." The author of the narrative—seemingly only identified as "D.H.S."—then goes on to relate the various aspect of the journey through Kashmir, to include various angling escapades.Condition ReportCondition as described in catalogue entry.
