Beschreibung:

HOYOIS, H.-J. Musée bibliographique; collection d'ouvrages imprimés et manuscrits, dont le moindre prix est de 1000 francs . Mons: Hoyois-Derely, 1837. 8 o (233 x 145 mm). Printer's woodcut device. (Slightly browned.) CONTEMPORARY MONS BINDING FOR THE PUBLISHER, SIGNED BY N. LANDA (at foot of spine): gold- and silver-tooled blue morocco, fillets and cornerpieces on sides, in the center the printer/publisher's device of a press, the motto lux altera mundi and initials H-D tooled on a red morocco inlay, decorated flat spine with red-morocco lettering piece, silvered floral endpapers, gilt edges, original printed and decorated wrappers preserved, (binding rubbed). Provenance : the publisher (his device and initials tooled on binding). Catalogue of the most valuable books and manuscripts in public and private collections, for which some kind of price record existed and evidently compiled from secondary sources. H.-J. Hoyois may have been the father of Em. Hoyois, the printer of the Fortsas catalogue, but the reasons for repeated suggestions that Musée bibliographique was the inspiration for the Fortsas hoax are not clear.
