Captivating early hornbook, an example of which is described in a Sotheby's catalogue of 1896, as quoted by Tuer, p.460 (2nd ed.): "Horn-Book, Roman letter containing the Alphabet, words of two letters, and the Lord's Prayer, protected by a thin pane of horn, with brass rims, the back covered with leather, having stamped thereon the effigy of Charles II. on horseback..."
