Uxbridge, March 9th 1825, to Mr. Leach, discussing the renewal of a subscription; a two page autograph part letter, unsigned by Gladstone, from 10 Downing Street, [n.d.], recipient unknown, discussing the political situation in the East: "There is every imaginable objection to the proposed Protectorate...Nothing but absolute necessity can warrant our interference and then only within the limits...What we are fairly entitled to ask is that Turkey shall commit no act of agression against their chieftains;" clipped signatures include those of Alexander of Tunis, W.G. Grace, Florence Nightingale, Lord Palmerston, Sir Robert Walpole, Benjamin Disraeli, Lord Robert Clive, George III, George IV, William IV, Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, the monogram signature of Sir Edwin Landseer and an autograph envelope front signed by Charles Dickens
