These fine large portraits of members of the Toerako species come from Schlegel and Westerman's De Toerako's afgebeeld en beschreven door H. Schlegel, onder Mederwerking van G.F. Westerman , Amsterdam, 1860. Schlegel made the drawings from specimens in the Amsterdam Zoo, which was in the charge of Westerman. The lithogrpahs were printed by the noted Leyden printer, P.W.M. Trap. The work comprised seventeen plates in total and was published by the Dutch Royal Zoological Society, Natura Artis Magistra.
