HEBREW MANUSCRIPT - David Nieto (1654-1728), Middat Mikva'ot (on the measurements of the ritual bath). London, 1715. 8 leaves, brown ink on paper, 200 x 160 mm., fine condition, with addition in different hand on fols. 3v-7v on Kabbalah, in different Sephardic cursive hands, modern leather antique. This manuscript copied during the lifetime of the author -- HEBREW MANUSCRIPT, possibly by Raphael ben Hezekiah Meldola (1754-1828), Haham of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews of Great Britain. Collection of halakhic novellae and responsa, signed (?) at several places 'Raphael, son of Hezekiah Meldola'. Italy (and London?), c. 1800. 40 leaves, various brown inks on various papers, 158 x 108 mm., signed on fol. 5v and elsewhere, cropped and frayed with minor loss of individual letters, many leaves detached, modern boards. 'One of the most prominent members of the Meldola family... In 1805 [Raphael] Meldola was elected haham of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews of Great Britain and proved a worthy successor of Sasportas and Nieto... Possessed of a remarkably virile mind, he was a remarkable factor in the British Jewry of his generation' (The Jewish Enc.) -- HEBREW AUTOGRAPH - Raphael Meldola, autograph letter signed ('Raphael Meldola') to Michael Salomon Jonah of Turin, N.p.
