Engraved frontispiece by Sutton Nicholls (Small paper flaw on S4 affecting a few letters, gatherings O and 2E browned.) Contemporary calf (front joint repaired). Provenance : Sir Philip Sydenham (armorial bookplate on title verso). FIRST EDITION, published at the same time as the peace conference at Utrecht, seeking to sway English sympathies away from the demands of the Dutch. The work reviews Dutch atrocities committed against the English at Amboyna and other East Indian islands. The frontispiece shows a graphic depiction of the torture and execution of the English. RARE: no copies are recorded in American Book Prices Current in at least the last 30 years. Bell H16.
