Long halachic response, regarding laws of ritual impurity contracted by Cohanim, when coming in close proximity with a dead body. Written by Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh of Zamuch, Rabbi of Gloga and Altoona, Hamburg and Wandsbeck, author of Tiferet Tzvi Responsum. Gloga, [1796]. The response is in his handwriting and with his signature, addressed to Rabbi Shlomo Cohen of Shneituch and Margentheim and Ciltz (d. 1924, Otzar Harabbanim 18473). One verso of page there is a wax seal and a letter to Rabbi Meshulam Zalman Ha-Cohen, Rabbi of Feurda, author of Bigdei Cehuna, father of Rabbi Shlomo. Author apologizes for troubling R' Meshulam to deliver this letter to his son, as he did not recall the son's address. There is an additional inscription on the , written by the receiver. Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh of Zamuch (1740-1837), author of Tiferet Tzvi, one of the giants of his generation. At the young age of 20, he was already exchanging responsum with the Noda BiYehuda, regarding the famous disputation regarding the halachic issue of "שליח לדבר עבירה בגט בעל כרחה" (see his responses in Noda Biyehadu Responsum, Even Ha'ezer, Chapters 78-82, and Responsum Tiferet Tzvi, Chapter 47). At the young age of 31, he was appointed as Rabbi of Brodi, and the Noda BiYehuda wrote of him "Glory of the generation, Candle of Israel, he is the first of the first, and unsurpassed". (Second edition of Even Ha'ezer, Chapter 134). In 1788, he was appointed Rabbi of Gloga Major, and in 1802, he moved to serve as Rabbi of Altoona, Hamburg and Wandsbeck. At the letter's end, he added mention of his son, Rabbi Yehuda Leibush Wohl, Rabbi of Komrna. 3 pages, 36 cm. Approx. 150 written lines. Good condition, tears on folds and margins, with no damage to text. This book was printed in his book Tiferet Tzvi (Warsaw 116), Yorah De'ah, Chapter 57.
