Grand Seraglio and chief mosques ..., first English edition, translated by John Phillips [London, John Playford, 1683] textually complete, 13 engraved plates (7 of these large folding), index and 5pp. advertisements at the end, lacking portrait frontispiece and one plate (figure VII), some light browning, early ink inscription to title and final pastedown, engraved armorial bookplate to upper pastedown, contemporary mottled calf, rebacked spine lettered in gilt, extremities rubbed, [Atabey 528], 8vo Provenance: with armorial bookplate of Sir John Hope bart., of Craig-Hall in Scotland, judge and land owner (1794-1858), and signature of a descendant of his named Archibald to title.
