From a Journal kept on the Islands, and written with the Blood of the Penguin . New York: William H. Colyer, 1847. 8°, (193 x 118mm). Lithographic frontispiece. Original blind-stamped black cloth gilt, spine restored, new endpapers. PRESENTATION COPY of the first edition, inscribed by the author on title-page to "Gov. Glass - Tristan D'Acunha From his old friend..." who was a passenger and son of the captain. From their survival camp on Inaccessible Island they reached Tristan de Cunha where they were greatly assisted by Glass. See Huntress 166; together with two other copies of the first edition in original black cloth, one inscribed from the author William LEFAVOR. Forty Years' Travels At Sea and in foreign Countries.
