Grain-Painted Miniature Two-Drawer Chest, possibly South Shaftsbury, Vermont, c. 1825, the chest with scrolled backboard over a case of two drawers, a scrolled skirt echoing the shape of the backboard, and cut-out feet with demilune ends, the top, sides, and drawer fronts simulating crossbanding and stringing centering panels simulating exotic wood in burnt sienna and mustard tones, with eastern white pine being the secondary wood, white porcelain drawer knobs, ht. 14, wd. 11 5/8, dp. 7 1/4 in. Note: This miniature chest is stylistically similar to the work of Thomas Matteson and other members of the Matteson family of South Shaftsbury, Vermont.
