London: Walter Lewis at the Cambridge University Press, 1928. 4 o (280 x 215 mm), 2 volumes. NO. 2 OF 50 COPIES CONTAINING 50 ADDITIONAL PHOTOGRAPHS of bindings not reproduced in the ordinary copies. Color frontispiece, 110 plates, 50 photos. Original buckram (joints worn, bookblock vol. 2 broken). "A work of immense learning which has had a lasting influence on binding studies. He refined and expanded Weale's and Gottlieb's principles and methods" (Breslauer, Uses pp. 27-28). Two October 1928 letters from Goldschmidt to Martin Breslauer (given to BHB by D. De Simone in 1993) laid-in. (2)
