GERMAN SCHOOL, CIRCA 1820 Frederick William III (1770-1840), King of Prussia 1797-1840, in black coat with red-bordered silver collar, silver epaulettes, wearing the badges of the Imperial Russian Order of St. George, the 1813 Iron Cross of Prussia, the Imperial Austrian Military Order of Maria Theresa, the Prussian 1813-1814 Medal, and the breast-star of the Royal Prussian Order of the Black Eagle; together with his daughter Princess Alexandrine of Prussia (1803-1892), Grand Duchess Paul Frederick of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, in low-cut dress, triple strand necklace, flowers in her upswept plaited hair (German School, dated and signed with initial '1822 H') the latter pencil on card oval, 1 13/16 in. (46 mm.) high and circular, 2 1/16 in. (53 mm.) diam., silver-gilt mount and shaped rectangular hammered brass frame, respectively (2)
