GELL, Sir William (1777-1836). The Topography of Troy, and its Vicinity . C. Whittingham for T.N. Longman and O. Rees, 1804. 2° (423 x 265mm). Hand-coloured etched title-vignette, 2 coloured maps and 28 hand-coloured aquatint and etched plates, 3 folding, 13 illustrations in the text, all but 2 hand-coloured (light discolouration and offsetting). Later 19th-century maroon hardgrain half morocco (rather rubbed). Provenance : the Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow (in gilt on upper cover) -- Alan Waterworth (armorial bookplate).
