Beschreibung:

FOOD] BRILLAT-SAVARIN, ANTHELME. Autograph letter signed , a single large sheet of paper folded to four pages, the letter dated Paris 18 April [1809 from docketing], with ten lines of text boldly signed "Brillat de Savarin," the address page integral, the reverse of the sheet bearing the secretarial transcription of a document that Brillat-Savarin is forwarding. Page size 9 1/4 x 7 1/4 inches (23 1/3 x 18 1/2 cm). Somewhat browned, loss at the center of the sheet where the seal attached, not affecting Brillat-Savarin's text. Framed. A letter by the great gastronome Brillat-Savarin written in his capacity as a magistrate with the Court of Caussation, a post he held from 1797 until his death in 1826. He forwards a copy of a document by a M. DuSauguey ("fils d'un Americain"), and makes a personal plea on his behalf. Letters by the author of the Physiologie du gout are very uncommon. C
