Five large fragments of a monumental Bible, in Latin, decorated manuscript on vellum [England, early twelfth century] 5 strips from a large bifolium, each approximately 395mm. by 60mm., numbered in pencil by N.R. Ker in July 1974, with remains of two sizes of a handsome English early gothic script in black ink, the original leaf at least 310mm. by 208mm., with two columns of 41 lines, fragment I cut horizontally from top of leaf and with contemporary running titles "Liber" and "expliciunt capitula. Incipit ad maccabeorum", eight small initials in red or green on fragments I and II, three large initials in red, green or blue on IV and V, all recovered from bindings and hence somewhat defective
