(Fine Art, Antiques & Jewellery, 25th May 2019) Flora Fong Garcia (b. 1949) Cuban Untitled, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1997, 115 cm x 116 cm. Upon completion of her arts degree in Camagüey, Garcia studied at the Cubanacán National School of Art in Havana City and went on to teach at the renowned San Alejandro Academy of Fine Art until 1989. The academy was founded in 1818 by French artist Jean Baptiste Vermay and went on to be frequented by many famous artists, both Cuban and international, this included Federico Mialhe Armando Menocal and Domingo Ravenet. In addition to her works on canvas Garcia also works with different mediums such as ceramics and fabric. Her work is now displayed in galleries across the world including Paris, Tokyo, Spain and America.
