Comprises: "A Bear Hunt" full-page original drawing for divisional title in Big Woods appearing on p. [143]; two sheets containing five drawings for vignettes in Big Woods (1955); "The Bear," a full-page original pencil and wash drawing for the story which appeared in The Saturday Evening Post (9 May 1942, Petersen B64a); and two unidentified subjects, apparently a Civil War story. Between 1923 and 1976 Edward Shenton illustrated over 130 books including The Yearling , Tender Is the Night , Green Hills of Africa . During the 1930s he was the "house" illustrator for Scribner's magazine, providing cover art and illustations. Shenton himself wrote ten books and seventy-five articles articles for various magazines, including The Saturday Evening Post , The New Yorker , Collier's , and The Atlantic Monthly .
