ARCHITECTURE - EIFFEL, Gustave. Viaduc de Garraby. Le plus gigantesque travail du monde, 1885. St. Flour, Arthur Ravoux, 1885. Original folder printed in 2 colours, presented at the opening of the famous Viaduc de Garabit, the railway arch bridge connecting Marvejols to Neussargues in the Cantal, Massif Central in France; framed under double passe-partout behind glass, with label of Govaarts-Homan on the reverse. Paper browned and creased, one closed tear, 9 folds. Rare (no other coloured copies found). Dimensions: Image size 24.5 x 64.5 cm., frame size 36.5 x 75 cm. Artist or Maker: EIFFEL, Gustave. Literature: Cornette de Sainte Cyr, Eiffel sale 2006, no. 53. Les Archives du Cantal, 8 Fi 17 Notes: The total length of the viaduct is 564 meters, the immense height measured from the river is 165 meters, 48 meters higher than the Bastille and the Notre Dame on top of each other, as shown in the centre of the folder. Les Archives du Cantal holds a slightly different copy, with the Parisian address of the publisher. Rare, contemporary publication on the precursor of the Eiffel Tower.
