An interesting lot of 22 turn-of-the century Alaska photographs, including mining operations, plus World War I-related photographs and five pen and ink drawing prints, each with a Victory Bond watermark. The Alaska photographs include mounted and unmounted prints and real photo postcards, ranging in size from 3" x 5" to 6" x 8", showing: a fine Birds Eye View of Karluk, Alaska; a view of men Seine-hauling, Karluk, W. Alaska; the Kennecott copper mine; Kennecott from a distance; a large group of men watching as others tow a boat though the ice to the shore; a logging boat; a man and his dog outside a small shack painted W.K. Merwin; the Catherine Sudden and two other large ships in icy waters; a fine view of Sitka taken from off shore; two men and a dog on top of a shack completely covered by snow; miners with their tools, standing in front of their tent; a ma in an army uniform smoking; a glacier; a portrait of an older man named Jack Sutton holding a rifle; Ketchikan Lake from NW dam; two views of businesses; a mounted photograph of a painting, titled in the negative Sunrise, Alaska from a painting by R. Hansen; and a fine mounted photograph of a woman standing in front of a log cabin with a Bakery & Laundry sign above the side door. The remaining photographs include: two 5" x 7" unmounted prints, one inked on the print April 25, 1917 / Old Abe, 47, Brooklyn, NY, Cook, showing the soldier in uniform, identified on verso as Abe Dunning, at Spartanburg, SC, the other showing Mr. Dunning in his cook's tent, with another cook and two uniformed soldiers, inked on verso Richmond, Virginia, 1917.
