DON BRADMAN , Sykes Test Worlds Record Don Bradman cricket bat, match-used. The bat is inscribed by Bradman 'Don Bradman Private' and has a presentation inscription 'To George Miles, in appreciation & with best wishes, from Don'. The bat is signed on the back by South Africa and Australia 1931-32 including, Woodfull, Bradman, Oldfield, McCabe, Fingleton, Cameron, Quinn and others. The foot of the bat is signed by England and Australia (The Bodyline Series) by Larwood, Jardine, Pataudi, Hammond, Voce, Sutcliffe, Woodfull, Bradman, McCabe, Oldfield and others. The face of the bat is signed by Australia and England 1936-7 and by India 1947. The bat has been heavily used with a few splits. It is reasonable to assume that Bradman used this bat against South Africa and England in 1931-32/1932-33. Provenance from the vendor confirms that George Miles played cricket for Mick Simmons, the Sydney sports store for which Bradman did promotional work. Miles also worked for the store for 34 years, repairing bats and re-stringing handles for the store and for Bradman. Miles's address on the bat cover - Mortlake Street, Concord, Sydney, is the same street and suburb that Bradman moved to when he went to live with G.H. Pearce.
