Dibble gathered his information by sending questionnaires to the oldest local inhabitants, but the result, not checked against other contemporary sources, is more folklore than actual history. Dibble, a devout and funtamentalist-minded Christain missionary, is highly critical of Cook and the divine honors accorded him.
