Beschreibung:

Description The Porsche 914 was introduced in September 1969 as a collaborative effort between Porsche and Volkswagen. The radical design they came up with was a mid-engined vehicle with seating for two, and featured a removable targa top. Volkswagen needed a vehicle to replace the aging Karmann- Ghia, while Porsche was looking for another option to add to their impressive line-up. Topping the range was the 914-6, a six-cylinder version. It was short lived, with only 3360 examples produced between 1969 and 1972, and all standard cars featured a 2.0 litre flat-six engine. The debut was made at Frankfurt Motor Show in 1969, obtaining very positive feedback from specialists. In 1970 Porsche entered a 914-6 GT in the gruelling 24 hours of Le Mans race. It finished 6th overall and won its class, only the first chapter in the vehicle’s extensive racing career, which continues to this day. This fine 914-6 is described as being in excellent condition in every respect, having undergone a restoration in 1999 to a cost of 155,000DM, equivalent to €80,000. Finished in blue with a contrasting black interior, this 1970 model looks stunning from every angle and sits on Fuchs wheels with sports suspension. The 914’s reputation for perfect balance and excellent handling was somewhat marred by criticism that the four-cylinder version was too slow, though lack of speed was never a shortcoming of the 914-6. The 914-6 was a relatively short-lived model with only 3,360 examples produced between 1970 and 1972, and is now very much sought after.
