The game is played by having each lady in the group ask the question, "What sort of husband am I to have?" She then draws a card from the deck for the ladies and reads the printed prophesy, which may be, for example: "A wild spark, who will cause you much anxiety." or "A giant, who in his first embrace will nearly squeeze you to death." Likewise, each gentleman in turn asks, "What sort of wife shall I get?" and then chooses a card that might prophesize: "A high spirited brunette." or "A washerwoman, who will soon play the lady."
