First Edition. Classic account, by a survivor, of dire sufferings endured by an emigrant party on a short-cut from Salt Lake City to California through the valley called ever after by this fearful name" - Howes. With T.L.s. from a bookseller, dated 1929, tipped to front endpaper, indicating this and several other copies had been acquired from the publisher's family, this accounting for the superb condition.
