Provenance: George Gostling (bookplate); Frank Linsly James (bookplate). First published between 1772-74 in 31 parts. To make the work more easily available to the public, Dandré-Bardon reduced both the text and plates of the first edition "especially those which were not directly applicable to costume" (Blackmer).
